PRESENTATION OF 'CHARACTER' DEVELOPMENT

Dan Close will deliver one of twelve presentations at the League of Vermont Writers “Into The Woods” Summer Gathering at Jerry Johnson’s farmhouse in Irasburg in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. Dan’s presentation will take a dozen of the characters in ‘Song of Quebec’ and tell their sources, whether they came out of thin air or were based on real people. This will be done using short thumbnail sketches. It is hoped that this will spark recollections in the participants regarding their own novel creations, and set them wondering…’Are all fictitious characters based somehow on reality? What about Shakespeare’’s fantasy characters in ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’ and ‘The Tempest’?

Check the League of Vermont Writers website for directions and details of the day.
